What Is the Innovation Center?
The Innovation Center brings together spaces dedicated to innovation, training, technology, entrepreneurship, and the dissemination of knowledge. These spaces are focused on promoting, implementing, coordinating, and managing initiatives that contribute to economic and social development, job creation, income generation, and quality of life.
Various initiatives can find suitable facilities for meetings, recordings, training sessions, hands-on activities, and events—all of which are aimed at strengthening the innovation ecosystem.
The Center for Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship is named after David Cohen in recognition of his lifelong commitment to the development of Santo André.
A visionary entrepreneur, David Cohen arrived in Brazil in 1926, and two decades later, he chose the city to build a legacy marked by hard work, pioneering spirit, and the ability to turn opportunities into businesses. At the helm of the long-standing 15 de Novembro store and ventures in various sectors, he helped strengthen the local economy and left a legacy that spans generations.
His career, marked by pioneering spirit, credibility, and a vision for the future, inspires new generations who today find in this space the support they need to turn ideas into solutions.
The building that now houses the Santo André Technology Park was once part of the former facilities of Rhodia, a chemical and textile company belonging to the Solvay Group that has been operating in Brazil for over 100 years and played an important role in the industrial development of Santo André and in establishing the Greater ABC region as one of the country’s main industrial hubs.
The renovation of the space preserved key elements of its original architecture, such as the facade and the staircase, keeping alive the memory of a building that has been part of various moments in Santo André’s economic history.
Currently, the headquarters of the Santo André Technology Park is known as the David Cohen Center for Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship and is now embarking on a new chapter, dedicated to research, technology, entrepreneurship, and the creation of opportunities.
